Sighisoara, Romania

Here's a quick page from our trip to Romania. This is Sighisoara, a walled medieval town, listed as a UN World Heritage Site. And the birth place of Vlad Tepesh (aka Vlad Dracula). The pictures are a bit hazy, but so was the town. We stayed in the old town, and some of the pictures are taken from our hotel, like the rainy one, and the one of the kids walking up the hill. The pictures, somewhat blurry, of Yuka and I at the end are from a private garden that our conference host secreted us up to our first day.

Yuka and I were in Sighisoara from May 14-22, 2003, and I'll link up more pictures and text from the trip, and the Third World Congress on Dracula, from my main page, as soon as possible. Yuka will have Japanese language versions on her site soon as well.

Sighisoara train station. Yuka has much to say of the lavatory facilities, and is writing the mayor on the issue. Note the armed soldier under the sign.

Walking around town. There are only three streets in town. Maybe four, with lots of alleys.

This is the house in which Vlad Dracula was born. It is now a restaurant, and you can eat through out the house. And yes, they have Vampire wine, merlot, shiraz, and a cabernet.

The house next to Vlad's, notable for it's Vinetian windows.

The back tower entrace to the citadel. Note the weather vanes at the top. They'll appear in other pictures.
